"It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line
Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood
Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously
Pacing 'round like little boys do
And in his hands he held a pair of shoes
His clothes were worn and old, he was dirty from head to toe
And when it came his time to pay
I couldn't believe what I heard him say;
Sir, I want to buy these shoes for my Mama, please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry, sir, Daddy says there's not much time
You see she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes would make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful if Mama meets Jesus tonight.
He counted pennies for what seemed like years
Then the cashier said, "Son, there's not enough here"
He searched his pockets frantically
Then he turned and he looked at me
He said Mama made Christmas good at our house
Though most years she just did without
Tell me Sir, what am I going to do,
Somehow I've got to buy her these Christmas shoes
So I laid the money down,
I just had to help him out I'll never forget the look on his face when he said
Mama's gonna look so great
I knew I'd caught a glimpse of heaven's love
As he thanked me and ran out
I knew that God had sent that little boy
To remind me just what Christmas is all about."

Alright, so we don't all have touching little stories such as this to remind us what Christmas is all about... But I'll tell you for certain, it has nothing to do with candy canes(I have nothing against them though, they're amazing!), or Santa Claus... It's the day our savior was born! And I beleive with all my heart, that if Jesus were here on earth, for his birthday gift, he would want us to share His love. So that's exactly what I'm going to do this Christmas season, share Christ's love with as many people as I can! ..And guess what! I just had a major epiphany! He wants it all year 'round!(What am I talking about epiphany..?? I already knew that...) ..And since I'm living for Jesus... That's just it, exactly what I'm going to do. Share His love as much as possible all year 'round! ...So my challenge, if you choose to accept, is to do the same. Try your very best to not be greedy, or worship objects...as hard as it is, Christmas presents are soooo super awsome!!... but worship Christ instead, and do it by sharing His love!

Hey by the way... Santa Claus.. Did you ever think that maybe he was created to mimic Jesus?
-Giving of himself to strangers?
-Doing the impossible..(flying) ..
-Knowing wether you've been bad or good without physically seeing you?
-Knowing what you want for Christmas without you having to tell him?
Maybe he was created to mimic Jesus so that people..once a year..could physically see him?? ..Just a thought.

Okay. But I'm pretty sure Jesus is amazingly better. And Santa...Umm...has some reality issues. Yeah, I know you know that. I'm just saying things.
Challenge accepted. Now you are bound to it, as well as I.
You may start now.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but a lot of people don't consider Christmas to be the date of Jesus' birth, one of the Popes 'moved' the date of Jesus' birth closer to the winter solstice and the Roman Saturnalia festival in an effort to convert pagans.
I have to agree with you though, commercialism has bastardized the image of 'Santa Claus' (or rather, sinter klaas). It's kind of weird though that a lot of people direct their disapproval at Santa Claus though. It's really the parents' and the corporations' faults for the way children behave, and Santa Claus makes a good scapegoat. I don't understand how people can direct their anger at a fat jolly guy that just wants to give people presents. What are they trying to do? Give him an inferiority complex?
Agreed on Jesus being amazingly better, Werner! And !SWEET! that you accept! I however have already started!
As for raining on my parade, Jared? First, you must know, that I love rain, and I do not EVER look at it as a bad thing, physically OR figuratively. I love different opinions..even yours!! And I do know that a lot of people don't consider Christmas the day Jesus was born, and I know it's clearly NOT the actual day, but it's the day we substitute in so that we can celebrate it once a year. And I definately don't disapprove of Santa, I love him! He brings me amazing things while I'm sleeping!! hehe, I'm just kidding, but I don't disapprove, it's a choice a parent makes, and most chose to play along with Santa.
